I am SO excited to for the first of my 4 blog series of the year! I’m particularly excited about The Top 5, because I simply love sharing things that I love with all of you. I also hope you’ll enjoy the easy-read and short format of these posts. If you love them, please leave a comment and let me know! So here we go!
1. The Amazon Sweatshirt Dress
Obsessed might be an understatement, and you know I think that word is HIGHLY overused. But I have 2 of these, and I wear them 4/7 days of the week. So I think obsessed can be used in this case. There is a fleece-lined option and a non-fleece lined option. I have 2 fleece-lined dresses, and they’re so soft. It’s almost a minky fabric like a baby blanket.
I overheat very easily, and I don’t overheat in these dresses. It’s a full-zip, so it would be great for nursing, if that’s your thing! Either way, this is a MUST HAVE. Runs through XXL, and it’s definitely true to size. For reference, I wear an XL, but I could fit in a L in the non-fleece option.
2. The Girl They Left Behind
I just finished reading my first book of 2020, and it was absolutely fabulous. I found it to be an easy read. It’s based on a true story, and it’s both heartbreaking and heart-filling all at the same time. If you love anything WW2, you will love this different perspective read. It was quite eye-opening for me, and I can’t wait to talk about it with all of you once you’ve read it. A Glass of Goldwater Book Club 2020? I think yes!
3. Mom Wins
I’m so excited for this to be the year that we celebrate our WINS! I often find myself complaining and laughing at the hard times — which is fine! There’s a time and place for everything! — but I want to make this the year that I make sure to pay extra attention to even the smallest wins. And I challenge you to do this as well.
I love this idea so much, that I’m dedicating on of the series’ categories just to Mom Wins. I’ll feature one of my own personally Mom Wins each month, and I hope you’ll join me. #MomWins
I’ll start: I made my kids’ favorite cookies for Shabbos, AND they taste great! Booyah! What are yours?
4. Very Cavallari
Ok, bear with me here. I love this show on E. Let me break down the reasons why. First of all, Kristin Cavallari has come A LONG way since her time on the show from my high school days, Laguna Beach. For those of you who don’t know, she was sort of the bully, not a girl’s girl, and always seemed to be in a fight with someone. Fast forward 10 years, and she lives in Nashville with her husband 3 children, who I assume are beautiful, but she has NEVER PUT THEM ON SOCIAL MEDIA OR TELEVISION. I SERIOUSLY respect that, especially for someone in such a public eye.
On top of, what seems to be, her family success, she founded and runs her own jewelry and lifestyle company, Uncommon James. It’s incredibly successful, and I really admire the fact that she built it from the bottom up. Of course I know that I’m only seeing a very small perspective into her life, but I just really love what I see. I absolutely love watching Very Cavallari on E — I’m constantly laughing at the interviews and her hilariously playful banter with her husband. If you’re looking for something light to watch, I recommend. It’s as wholesome as reality TV can get. Kristin has really become this Boss Babe/Family Woman, and I really admire that.
5. Diet Coke
If you’ve been around for a while, you know that I in 2019, I didn’t drink soda of any kind (Diet Coke is my preference) for 7 months. I did this because I felt like I was addicted to it, and I wanted to prove to myself that I could stop drinking it. I also had it in my mind that if I stopped drinking soda, I would automatically lose 10 lbs.
Well, here we are, about 11 months after I first stopped drinking soda, and I’ve made a conscious decision to drink it again…for now. I’ve also been on a personal health journey, with the guidance of a doctor, for the last 8 months, and I have found that drinking soda vs. not drinking soda has NOT made a difference in my weight loss. Obviously, everyone is different, but this has been my experience.
I’m in a place in my life where I’ve got to make certain choices throughout my day. Days with toddlers are really hard sometimes, and I need little pick-me-up’s throughout the day to get me through sometimes. Some moms need coffee, and I used to eat sugar all afternoon and evening. So yes, Diet Coke is my 3 cups of coffee.
So there you have it…
This is the first installment of my Top 5 blog series. Just 5 random things that I’m really into right now! Are you into it? I’d love to know. Leave a comment below. I want you all to love these posts, just as much as I love writing them. Thanks! xo
