**This post has been updated for 2020 Teacher Appreciation Week.
This week (May 4-8, 2020) is Teacher Appreciation Week! After this forever quarantine, I know that I will never take my kids’ teachers for granted ever again. In fact, I’m also celebrating me this week, since I’ve become the in-house teacher as well. But in all seriousness, our teachers are integral parts of that village it takes to raise children. They offer our kiddos so much knowledge and life skills that we, as parents, may not be able to give them.
I’ve dubbed myself class mom, so I’m handling all of the special gifting this year for our class. I know this week sneaks up on so many of us, so I thought I’d share some of the gift ideas I had in mind. Most are partial DIY — like creating a cute card or tag to go with something store-bought. And when in doubt…CASH OR GIFT CARDS! Because who doesn’t want to go shopping at Target or Amazon? …#nobody, enjoy!
I’ve split the gifts into two categories. The first are gifts that you can still do this year, albeit virtually, and the second are some more cute/pinteresty gifts for “normal” years.
Virtual Teacher Appreciation Gifts:
This year is weird, so I’ve had to be a bit creative with our class gifts. But I still want our teachers to know just how much we appreciate them, especially now!
Send a bouquet of flowers to their home.
Many people haven’t been getting their normal flower arrangements lately, due to the COVID-19 situation. And many local businesses are struggling. This is a perfect opportunity to support you local florist, and show your teachers you care, by sending a bouquet to their home. And don’t forget about Teacher’s Assistants also!
Class Video:
Have each family from the class, make a 15 second video clip of them saying “Thank you!”, “We miss you!”, “We love you!” to the teachers. They can hold up a sign or just talk. One parent can easily compile the video clips in an app or on iMovie to make something that you can share with the teachers!
Teacher Appreciation Gift Ideas (in-person):
Thanks a “Bundt-ch” for all that you do bundt cakes
I loved this idea. And I’m going to give bundt cakes to our teachers this week from our class. I think it’s the perfect thing to finish off the week, so they have it to enjoy with their families over the weekend. I found these super cute printable tags to make my life even more simple.
Thank you for helping us “grow” plants
Plants aren’t for everyone, but my daughter’s teacher took basil from our plant all last summer, so I thought it would be perfect to gift her very own basil plant with this sweet note. Pinterest is your best friend here. It totally takes the guess work out of graphic design and the stress of creating something yourself. If you can’t think if any ideas yourself, Pinterest is there for you too!
Thank you for keeping us “on Target” this school year. We hit the “bullseye” with you as our teacher.
Check out details here.
Thanks for being an “Amazing” teacher this year.
You can’t go wrong with an Amazon gift card, and if you can be creative with it by using this printable tag, you’re good to go!
See? Teacher gifts totally don’t have to be overwhelming. It’s all about what you make it, but just a few extra steps (and not much more money) can turn a regular gift into something memorable for those people in our children’s lives that matter most. Happy Teacher Appreciation Week everyone!
