A huge thank you to Fruitlove for sponsoring this post. As usual, all thoughts and opinions are my own!
I started my health journey about 6 months ago, when I had come to a really low point with the way I felt and with the way I saw myself when I looked in the mirror. I’ve been working to start to develop a smarter relationship with food.
I started to search for better replacements for the cookies, cake, chips, candy, and other garbage I would shovel into my mouth while watching TV shows and working late at night. Even though I often have to work at night, watching my shows at the same time is a form of self care for me. So, I was so happy to find Fruitlove Strawberry Banana Twirl Spoonable Smoothie at Jewel-Osco—a delicious, spoonable smoothie that’s packed with real fruits and veggies. It’s a good source of protein and calcium, as well as an excellent source of Vitamins A, B1, and B3. What a great alternative to my cookies—delightfully tasty but also filled with nutrients.
As a wife, mother, and boss woman extraordinaire, I work HARD. I don’t often get too much time to myself but every day, I try to take a few minutes to do a few things from the following list that give me the energy and motivation to be the best I can be for my family, my business, and myself. I find that when I feel good and devote more time to myself, I have an easier time making good food choices as well.
1. Read a Book
Every Friday night, I curl up on my couch with a good book. I have a whole list of books I’ve read that I think should be on everyone’s reading list. There’s nothing like getting lost in a story that is completely out of this world. I highly recommend a good book if you need to get your mind off of things.
2. Watch a good show or movie
Like I mentioned above, most nights I sit at my desk and work on my laptop while I watch a show (I have a whole list! I think that’s a great idea for a new post!) on my second monitor. Sometimes it takes me a bit longer to do my work, but I’ll take that when I have to work at night—especially in the early days of AG Creative Consulting.
My new TV snack of choice is the Fruitlove Harvest Berry Blend Spoonable Smoothie (or Strawberry Banana Twirl—they’re both delish!). I love that it comes with a cute little green spoon, right in the lid. No extra dishes for me. I first discovered Fruitlove when I was perusing the yogurt section, looking for a little treat. I’m so glad I decided to give it a try. And you’ll be glad, too!
3. Plan my calendar
I know, it doesn’t sound like a normal “relaxing” activity but I find that when I organize my week’s to-do list and daily appointments and events, I immediately calm down. I guess that’s my Type A personality for you. LOL I even color-code my appointments. I love using my special pens and markers. It really helps me take a load off of all the craziness going on in my brain by putting it down on paper. If you’re struggling with feeling overwhelmed, I’d recommend you try this too!
These are just a few things that I’ve been doing lately to relax. They don’t cost any money and can be done from the comfort of your own home.
How do you like to practice self care? I’d love to know! Let me know in the comments. xo
