Can we talk about cleaning a house when you have toddlers? Sometimes I wonder if it’s even worth it. But if I didn’t try to keep it semi-clean, it would totally spiral out of control until I could no longer see my countertops and floors.
Overtime, I’ve learned what’s “worth it” and what I just need to let go. Honestly, I find that, with two toddlers under 4, it’s pretty impossible to keep anything intact for too long. I mean, while I was writing this, they dumped out the entire tub of bristle blocks and threw them across the living room like they were frisbees. So yeah, I definitely have to pick and choose my battles.
I have a few nonnegotiables for the end of each day.
- The toys in the living room need to be *mostly* put away. Aka the visible toys go in their bins, and all of the cars that have been shot under the couch remain there until the cleaning lady comes next Wednesday.
- Pretend that there’s no mess in the basement playroom. Forget that you threw a baby doll (headfirst) down the stairs earlier today. Again, out of sight, out of mind.
- Hang up the shoes and put the jackets on the shoe shelf — YES, I actually wrote out that sentence, but I think it carries my #mombrain message pretty well, so I didn’t delete it. I like the effect.
- Now I’m in the kitchen. Mama likes to see her clean, quarts sparklies at the end of every day. And a big part of this is the dishes.
so let’s talk about the dishes.
After I’ve done a house walk-through and collected all 7 water bottles/sippy cups/straw cups that belong to my *2* children, I tip-toe, ever so quietly, over to the sink to see what the damage is for the day.
On a good day, things have been loaded in the dishwasher throughout the day. And on a not-so-good day there are piles on piles in the sink. Which is disgusting, but Mama’s here now babies. Time to cleanup.
We are #blessed with a dishwasher, but not all dishwasher detergents are created equal. And I’ve pretty much tried them all. From liquid to pods to crystals, I just kept trying different options until I discovered the new Cascade pure essentials.
Cue the heavenly choir. *hallelujah*
Everyone knows that Cascade is THE dishwasher detergent you can trust to get off that caked-on meatloaf and cholent without too much hassle. But what happens when little kiddies come into the picture, and you start to care about the ingredients in the household cleaning supplies you use? That’s where #pureessentials comes in.
Cascade pure essentials is the perfect combination of reliable clean and ingredients you trust. Sometimes you feel like you have to sacrifice effectiveness when using more better ingredients (insert natural deodorant here), but this simply isn’t the case with the pure essentials ActionPacs.
They work at the same level or better than your regular dishwasher detergent pods, but you can feel good about what’s cleaning the dishes that your littles use, without worrying whether or not you’ll have to run the load a second time.
