Thank you to Honda, the Chicago Auto Show, and the Chicago Automobile Trade Association for sponsoring this post! As always, all thoughts and opinions are my own.
If you haven’t heard by now, the Goldwaters are moving on up in the world … with a minivan! It was always in our future, but with carpools coming up this summer and next year for school, when a great one came along, we snagged it! So when the Chicago Auto Show and Honda asked me to come check out the 25th edition 2020 Honda Odyssey Elite (like the CREME DE LA CREME!), I jumped at the opportunity.
But first, let’s talk about the Chicago Auto Show.
My husband has been going to the CAS with his Dad since he was a kid. So Adam started taking Miri when she was only 1 (newborn Azi and mom got a pass on that one), and we’ve all been going as a family for the last two years.
There are so many kid-friendly activities, even if your kids aren’t as car-obsessed as mine. From real puppies, to test driving cars, virtual reality and STEAM activities, there’s something for everyone.
This is the 112th year of the Chicago Auto Show, and it’s open from 2/8-2/16 from 8 am – 10 pm, and on closing day, 2/17, from 8 am – 6 pm. McCormick Place is pretty huge, but there’s parking in Lot A that’s close and also at the Hyatt Regency. During the week there shouldn’t be a problem bringing strollers in, but if you can ditch them on the weekends, you’ll definitely be able to get around easier.
With all of the activities, it’s definitely something to do with the kids, especially on Friday and Monday of this week when everyone is off of school. Tickets are $13 for adults and $8 for children ages 7-12. Children 6 years and younger are free. You can absolutely spend 3+ hours there, with kids of all ages. You can buy your tickets online or at the show, and you can find more information at ChicagoAutoShow.com.
If you’re in the market for a new car, the Chicago Auto Show is the perfect place to look at all of the cars up close and right next to each other. Many auto show exhibitors purchase a new car within the next year.
Now let’s get into that 2020 Honda Odyssey Elite .
She’s a beaut, folks. Like, wow! I’m about to sell my house and move into that van. It’s got everything!
The Honda Odyssey has been the most popular minivan with American car buyers since 2010. Odyssey was the first to introduce minivan staples like third-row seats that fold into the floor, the first built-in vacuum cleaner (MY FAVORITE PART), HondaVac, and the first in-cabin child monitoring system, Cabin Watch ®.
My top reasons why the honda odyssey will change your mom life forever:
- Power tailgate – no more leaving the trunk open and making a second trip to shut it.
- Honda’s Magic Slide 2nd-row seats to allow easy access to the third row and separate fighting siblings.
- Front and rear parking sensors.
- HondaVac
- Cabin Watch ® – no more yelling to get your voice heard. Your voice now comes over the speaker system in the car, and you can get a video of the backseats right on the front screen. It’s AWESOME.
- Third row seats fold into the floor.
- There is just so much room to walk around in the car. It is SO MUCH EASIER for me to get the kids in and out.
- The center console has so much room, and is perfect for everything you need to keep — baby wipes, extra snacks, water bottles, basically a second storage unit!
- Continually passes all safety tests, including passenger impact tests, which many other car/van brands DO NOT.
- The 2020 Elite also has a heated steering wheel, wireless phone charging, power folding mirrors, and COOLING SEATS (a hormonal mother’s dream!!!).
Basically, don’t miss the 2020 Chicago Auto Show. You won’t regret the opportunity to talk to Honda specialists, and get a first look at some incredible technology.
If you need me, I’ll be in my apartment, I mean Honda Odyssey. Please direct all calls there from now on. K,thanks.
