The holiday season is officially here and what better to celebrate than with a fun holiday event or two?! I might be biased, but Chicagoland has some of the best events throughout the year, but they really do such a wonderful job during the holiday season. We always look forward to experiencing the different events. Not to mention, it’s a great way to get the kids out of the house even when it’s cold out!
Chicagoland Holiday Events
Maggie Daley Park Ice Skating Ribbon
Maggie Daley Park’s ice skating ribbon is officially back! Ice skating is one of our favorite winter activities and I love that the rink is more of a lazy river. It makes things so much more exciting and it’s so fun getting to see downtown Chicago from a different angle.
AMAZE Light Festival
Who can say no to a light festival?! I have a feeling the new AMAZE light festival is going to be incredible this year. This year, it’ll be taking place in Tinley Park’s expansive Odyssey Fun World and will be filled with sparkle, music, food, dance, and celebration. Last year’s light festival was incredible and we loved how immersive the entire experience was. We will definitely be visiting this year’s festival!
Harry Potter Experience
If there is one Chicagoland event you go to this holiday season, make it this one! This magic-at-play experience celebrates Harry’s journey in a uniquely interactive way. It’s filled with hands-on magical moments that your kids will absolutely love.
Sloomoo Institute Chicago
Oh what fun it is at the Sloomoo Institute that has recently come to Chicago! Sensory, slime and fun lovers rejoice! This can be an outing with kids of all ages, and adults have a blast also. They have themed rooms for the holidays, and they even sell Chicago-themed slime. This is a special activity that you and your family are not going to want to miss!
Lightscape at Chicago Botanic Garden
Lightscape at the Chicago Botanic Garden is always a hit and it’s back for its fourth season! This immersive light show offers visitors a 1.25-mile pathway including a magical 110-foot tunnel made up of 100,000 shimmering lights, an enchanting fire garden, and a forest of illumination as well as more music, light, fire, and color creations.
Zoo Lights at Lincoln Park
Back for its 28th year, the ZooLights experience at Lincoln Park Zoo is a Chicago classic. This year’s light experience will feature themed displays with 3D and LED lights, a Ferris Wheel, and an expansive light tunnel with a Chicago-themed patio at Eadie Levy’s Landmark Cafe.
Entrance is $5 per person Tuesday to Sunday and Monday nights are free.
Illumination Tree Lights at Morton Arboretum
Another fun an exciting light show to experience this holiday season! This annual light exhibition highlights the beauty of trees in winter and offers warm concession tends along the paved path to experience the Arboretum’s majestic landscape amid dazzling light spectacles.
Shine Light Show at Northbrook Court and Schaumburg
Want to experience Chicago’s light shows but don’t want to be cold? Northbrook Court’s Shine Light Show is returning for its second year! As Chicago’s largest drive-thru light show, you’ll get to experience stunning lights, immersive experiences, and holiday music all from the warmth of your car.
Build Your Own Fort Experience at Filament Theater
We are SO excited for FORTS at Filament Theatre this year! The theatre is transforming into a play-space for children and adults to build their own forts using cardboard boxes, sheets, clothesline, and more. It’s only here for a limited time so make sure to add it to your calendar ASAP!
