You all likely know by now that the Goldwater’s are some of the biggest Disney Pixar Cars fans that ever walked the face of this earth. The three movies are on daily rotation in our house, and Azi, in particular, always has his Lightning McQueen car in his hand. So we are super excited to help Mattel and Walmart celebrate Lightning McQueen Day on September 5th! Yes! LMQ is such a celebrity, that he has his own national holiday. And as a parent, I think he deserves it. Let me tell you why.
Lightning McQueen really goes through a deep, internal journey from start to finish. He goes through hardships, relationships and most of all, he learns what it means to overcome adversity and to be a great friend. These are all characteristics that I’m happy for my kids to learn about through one of their “superheroes”. I could go on with specific examples, but I don’t think you’re here for a Movie Report on the Cars 1, Cars 2 and Cars 3 movies. You get the idea, and if you haven’t watched the movies, ESPECIALLY Cars 3 (it’s our fam fav), you really need to. It’s really a great opportunity to turn screen time into a learning opportunity that your kids won’t even realize is “learning”. That’s the best kind!
So how are we celebrating?
Mattel was kind enough to send us the most awesome Disney Pixar Cars Race Around Radiator Springs Playset and the Disney Pixar Cars 3 Vehicle 5-Pack from Walmart, available in the Toy section! When the kids saw them, they FLIPPED, and have been playing ever since.
These toys came to us at the perfect time because we’ve been working with the kiddos on staying in their beds until a reasonable hour in the morning. Both of them are (apparently) SUPER early risers, which makes for tired parents. So we started a sticker chart with Miri to help incentivize staying in bed until we come get her in the mornings. It just happens to be that Miri just filled up her sticker chart a couple of days ago, so this was the perfect prize.
Azi’s lucky that he just happens to tag along to the most awesome sticker chart prize ever! And I don’t think he’s upset about it. This kid is in literal Cars Heaven.
