It can be really hard to shop for a second (or 3rd, 4th, 5th…) child sometimes! Especially if the kids are close in age, and even more so if there is a same-gender, older sibling. You may have heard that diapers and wipes are always a good present for parents. But I’m interested in giving more personal gifts. So I’ve compiled a list of gift ideas for younger siblings. These are gifts that won’t just get thrown into the “repeat offender” pile or returned to the store. It’s sure to be something special for the ones who may often get the hand-me-downs.
The Big Ticket Items:
My all-time favorite gift that we got for both kids is the personalized minky-soft blanket from Boogie Baby. Both of my kids use their blankets every night once they start having things in their cribs, and before then, we use them as stroller blankets, around the house blankets or for decoration. Basically, they are just really awesome, and you cannot go wrong here. Hands-down, my favorite gift to get!
My next favorite gift to get is the Pottery Barn Anywhere Chair. I realize these are both big-ticket items, but you seriously cannot go wrong. A few families could easily chip in on either of these gifts, and they would be much more meaningful than “just another stuffed animal”. Are you rolling your eyes at the thought of it? See what I mean?
Smaller, but personal gift ideas:
Here are a selection of smaller gift items that, in my opinion, every child could benefit from having their own. Which makes them great “2nd child” gifts:
Just to highlight a few from above: Every kid needs teething toys. And I find that as time goes on, they just get cuter and cuter. Also, I think every kid should have their own teething toys. It’s just one of those weird things I have. So why not get some cute ones that mom and baby can both enjoy!
You can never have too many baby dolls, and I’m also a big fan of toys that everyone can use, like the climbing equipment!
Now, I happen to think that you cannot go wrong with anything personalized. And personalized doesn’t mean that it has to be expensive!
A personalized plate is one of my go-to gifts for any child. My kids love theirs, and I always get rave reviews about the ones I purchase. It’s for sure a gift that will be in use for many years!
I also love the idea of a personalized book! How fun is that!
Pretty much just love the rest of these personalized ideas. I mean, I’m a girl from the south, so mama loves a good monogram. Anyone else feel me here? Both of my kids have the personalized pillows, and I love them! It’s especially helpful for mom to keep her birthweight facts straight, LOL. It can be hard to remember sometimes, but I’ve got them on a pillow, so we’re all good!
Love the crayon names and I love the Contigo water bottles with names on them. They’re our favorite water bottles!
I really hope some of these ideas were helpful to you! I’d love to know if you have any other ideas for gifts for second (or subsequent) children!
