Every time a big Jewish holiday is coming up, I get my hopes up that I’ll actually have some time to myself to read. Here are 5 books that I’ve either just read or are on my list to read this season:
1. Group by Christie Tate
When I say you need to read this book… you need to read this book. It was a totally raw and emotional read that everyone who’s ever been to therapy needs to read. It’s VERY authentic, so I would not recommend for teenagers. This book will make you believe in yourself, and therapy, again.
2. To Have and To Hoax by Martha Waters
In this first book of a 3-part series, Martha Waters gives us the ultimate historical romance. I personally LOVE this genre, and I’m thrilled to start this book over the holiday. If you love Bridgerton, Reign or anything of the like, I have a feeling you’ll like this book too. And what’s great is that if you love it, there are 2 more books as well.
3. Good in Bed by Jennifer Weiner
I’ve become a fan of Jennifer Weiner, and Good in Bed didn’t let me down. Following her theme of a plus size woman being the protagonist of her stories, Cannie (the main character), brought me on a whirlwind journey with her. I was rooting for her the entire time, and I think you will be too. It’s a feel good story that leaves you wanting more Jennifer Weiner. Other titles that I really enjoyed by Weiner: Big Summer, That Summer, and Mrs. Everything.
4. City Baker’s Guide to Country Living by Louise Miller
This book was so incredibly charming, wholesome and entertaining. I highly recommend if you love anything that’s similar to Gilmore Girls because this is it. Louise Miller also has another book called Late Bloomers Club that involves characters from the same town, so you can have even more of their story in that. Highly recommend for someone looking for a light, easy read that will make you feel good.
5. Somewhere Close to Happy by Lia Louis
I was obsessed with Lia Louis’ “Dear Emmie Blue”, and I am so looking forward to reading this title as well. If it’s anything like Louis’ other works, it will make you feel good and be totally enthralled in the story and the characters.
Do you have any other books you’re reading this spring? Let me know! Happy reading!
